About The Role

As a Principal Data Scientist at Faculty AI, you will occupy a pivotal role that combines technical leadership with strategic influence. Your primary responsibility will be to lead the delivery of highly complex, high-impact projects for some of the company’s most important clients. You will serve as a domain expert and technical authority in machine learning, Generative AI, and other advanced data science methodologies, shaping the technical direction of the data science team and ensuring the delivery of innovative solutions.

This role emphasizes deep individual contribution, technical excellence, and mentorship. You will be instrumental in developing shared resources, frameworks, and best practices that are adopted across teams and the organization. Additionally, you will contribute to large-scale project scoping and bidding processes, influencing client decisions through your technical expertise. As a thought leader, you will have opportunities to publish papers, present at industry conferences, and shape the AI vision for Faculty AI’s clients and the broader community.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a robust technical background, demonstrated through extensive experience in academia, industry, or both, as a thought leader in data science and AI. Experience working with financial services clients is highly desirable, especially with proven examples of delivering applications that have driven measurable commercial impact. You should have a broad knowledge of machine learning techniques, including expertise in building Generative AI and agentic AI applications using Large Language Models.

Proficiency in Python and experience developing scalable, maintainable codebases are essential. You should also have a track record of mentoring junior colleagues and managing teams, inspiring technical growth and excellence. Strong strategic problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex solutions effectively to non-technical stakeholders are critical. A demonstrated ability to balance innovation with practical implementation will set you apart.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical authority on machine learning, Generative AI, and advanced data science methods, delivering innovative solutions to clients.
  • Lead the development and dissemination of shared resources, frameworks, and best practices across teams and projects.
  • Contribute to project scoping, proposal development, and bid processes, providing expert insights to influence client decisions.
  • Manage a portfolio of projects within specific sectors, applying domain knowledge to maximize value for clients.
  • Mentor and lead project teams and direct reports, ensuring the successful delivery of complex, high-value projects.
  • Act as a thought leader by publishing research papers and presenting at industry conferences to promote Faculty AI’s AI vision and expertise.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the responsible and effective deployment of AI solutions.
