A growing, mission-driven law firm is seeking an

Accounting Assistant

to join its Boston office. This is a great opportunity for someone with a basic understanding of accounting who wants to develop their skills and build a long-term career in legal accounting.

The firm has approximately 85 attorneys and staff across two East Coast offices and represents nonprofit and for-profit clients worldwide.

No prior law firm accounting experience required – the firm is willing to train!

Position Highlights

  • Salary: $60,000–$75,000 + bonus potential
  • Hybrid Schedule: 3 days in-office during the first 90 days, transitioning to just 2 days in-office
  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:30 PM (40-hour workweek)
  • Location: Downtown Boston; must live within a 45-minute commute
  • Team: Join a collaborative 5-person accounting team across Boston and Washington, DC

Key Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable and employee expense reimbursements.
  • Assist with collections and accounts receivable follow-up.
  • Support the Billing Coordinator with client billing and invoicing.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and assist with reconciliations and reporting.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate financial processes.
  • Assist with special projects and other accounting department initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and processes
  • 2–3 years of office experience preferred, ideally in a professional services environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience with LMS/SurePoint, Center Suite, or similar accounting and reporting systems is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
