We're actively seeking an AVP Actuary - Life Valuation to join our Enterprise Valuation organization, based in
Newport Beach, CA or Omaha, NE
. This role follows a hybrid schedule of four days in the office (on-site). If you are not currently located near one of our offices, we offer comprehensive relocation assistance.

This role is responsible for leading the valuation of Pacific Life's in-force life insurance business across Statutory, GAAP, BMA, and other regulatory reporting frameworks. In addition to ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, this leader will play a critical role in generating business insights that inform strategic decision-making. The successful candidate will identify key drivers of reserves, capital, and risk; provide actionable analysis to senior management; and help translate complex actuarial results into clear business implications. This role serves as a trusted advisor to Finance, Accounting, ALM, Risk Management, Product, and executive leadership on matters affecting financial performance, profitability, and long-term value creation.
How You'll Help Move Us Forward
- Lead and develop a team of actuaries and actuarial professionals responsible for life insurance valuation
- Direct the quarterly and annual valuation process for life insurance products under Statutory, GAAP, BMA, and other applicable reporting bases
- Provide clear and insightful explanations of valuation results, reserve movements, assumption changes, and emerging experience trends
- Partner with business leaders to evaluate the financial implications of assumption changes, market movements, product actions, and strategic initiatives
- Support implementation of emerging regulatory and accounting requirements
- Drive continuous improvement through automation, process optimization, and adoption of new technologies such as AI and analytical capabilities
- Provide actuarial expertise and leadership support for audits, regulatory examinations, and interactions with internal and external stakeholders
- Attract, develop, mentor, and retain actuarial talent while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture
The Experience You Bring
- Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) or equivalent actuarial designation
- 10+ years of progressive actuarial experience within life insurance, with significant experience in valuation, financial reporting, reserving, and actuarial analysis
- Deep life insurance valuation credibility: Demonstrated expertise in life insurance valuation methodologies and reporting across Statutory, GAAP, and regulatory reporting frameworks
- Strong people leadership and coaching capability
- Decisive leadership and ability to move work forward
- Stakeholder management and executive presence
- Systems thinking across Statutory, GAAP, Bermuda, and future Economic Value reporting frameworks

Base Salary Range:
$220,000 - $250,000
Base Pay Range
The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
