About the role

Sales Engineer

  • Hybrid, San Francisco Bay Area

Base salary:

$130,000โ€“$160,000 ยท

OTE:

$175,000โ€“$215,000

๐Ÿ“ Location

This is a hybrid role based in our San Francisco office.

You should live in the San Francisco Bay Area and be able to work from the office a few days a week.

This role requires in-person, door-to-door sales.

A large part of the job is visiting small businesses in person across the Bay Area and getting them set up on an a1mobile business number.

๐Ÿš€ About a1mobile

a1mobile is building the AI-native carrier for businesses.

We're rebuilding the carrier layer, bringing mobile, landline, and AI phone systems together. Every business number should answer, understand, take action, and follow up.

Our first product, a1mobile One, is one business line for $99/month: unlimited calls and texts, 5G data, and an AI receptionist built into the carrier itself. It answers every call and text 24/7, takes bookings and orders, sends quotes and follows up. Our customers are small service businesses: restaurants, cafes, salons, studios, contractors, and hotels.

We recently raised an $11.5M seed round led by General Catalyst, with backing from Menlo Ventures, SV Angel, Commerce Ventures, and other leading investors.

We're looking for a

Sales Engineer

who can make a new kind of carrier easy to understand and easy to switch to. You'll be the technical partner in every deal: running demos, answering deep questions about numbers, porting, and AI call handling, and making sure every customer goes live smoothly.

๐Ÿงญ Experience we're looking for

  • 3+ years as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or Solutions Consultant in B2B SaaS, telecom, or VoIP.

๐Ÿ›  What you'll do

  • Run live demos that show the AI receptionist handling real calls, texts, bookings, and orders.
  • Answer technical questions on number porting, eSIM and SIM activation, landline adapters, call flows, and integrations.
  • Scope customer setups, from single-location shops to multi-location businesses, and design their call-handling workflows.
  • Go door to door with the sales team, visiting target businesses in person to demo the product live and sign them up on an a1mobile number.
  • Partner with Account Executives through the full sales cycle, from discovery to technical close.
  • Build demo environments, playbooks, and technical FAQs the whole sales team can use.
  • Turn customer feedback into clear product input for engineering and product.

๐ŸŽฏ What we're looking for

  • A solid understanding of telephony: phone numbers, porting, SIP/VoIP, call routing, and SMS.
  • The ability to explain technical concepts in plain language to busy business owners.
  • Comfort with APIs, webhooks, and SaaS integrations like calendars, POS, and booking tools.
  • Excellent presentation skills, in person and on video.
  • Comfort with door-to-door selling: walking into businesses, starting conversations with owners, and closing in person. Reliable transportation is needed.
  • A strong sense of ownership and the ability to move work forward without waiting to be told.
  • A team player who communicates openly, shares knowledge, and collaborates closely with others.
  • The flexibility to adapt and keep pace with a fast-moving startup.

โž• Nice to have

  • Experience with voice AI or LLM-based products.
  • Experience at a carrier, MVNO, or UCaaS company.
  • Experience at an early-stage startup.

โšก Why a1mobile

You'll sit at the intersection of telecom, voice AI, and sales, and your feedback will shape the product as much as the pipeline.

a1mobile is an equal opportunity employer. Employment decisions are based on qualifications, merit, and business needs, without discrimination on any basis protected by applicable law. Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records for employment.

Frequently asked questions

Answers about finding your next role

What can I search for?

Search by job title or keyword, then browse remote, hybrid, and onsite openings in one list.

Where can I find remote jobs?

Browse remote openings on Remote Amigo. Search by job title or keyword, then choose Remote in the work format filter. Check each listing for location or country requirements.

How do I narrow the results?

Choose a country, work format, minimum annual salary, and experience level. You can change or clear the filters at any time.

What will I see on a job page?

Each listing shows the role, company, location, work format, salary when available, skills when provided, and a job description.

Do I need an account to browse jobs?

No. You can search and read the available listings without signing in.

Does this site submit job applications for me?

No. You can search and review listings here. The Apply button starts the job preference quiz; it does not submit an application to an employer.

Where do the jobs come from?

Listings are imported from public job feeds and job sites. Job details may change at the original source, so confirm the latest information before applying.

How recent are the listings?

Search results include listings with a publication date in the last 30 days. If a source provides no publication date, the import date is used; the actual posting may be older.

Can I search for remote jobs only?

Yes. Select Remote in the job type filter to show remote listings. You can switch to Hybrid or Onsite whenever you want.

What is the difference between remote, hybrid, and onsite?

Remote roles are intended to be done away from an office. Hybrid roles combine remote and office work. Onsite roles are based at a workplace. Always read the listing for its exact location requirements.

Can I filter jobs by country?

Yes. Choose a country in the search form to narrow the listings. A remote role may still have country restrictions, so check its description before applying.

Why do some jobs have no salary listed?

Some listings do not include pay information. We show a salary when it is available and leave it out when it is not provided.

Is the salary filter a monthly or annual amount?

The minimum salary field uses US dollars per year. It filters listings that have comparable salary information.

Can I change or clear my search filters?

Yes. Change the keyword, country, job type, salary, or level in the search form. You can clear individual fields and run a broader search again.
