About the role
Job Summary
As a Kitchen Assistant you will be expected to ensure a clean and safe kitchen area. Your role will include cleaning the pots and pans, preparing vegetables and dishes.
Duties
- Assist in preparing ingredients and cooking meals according to established recipes and standards
- Support food safety protocols by maintaining cleanliness, proper storage, and hygiene practices in the kitchen
- Organize kitchen supplies, utensils, and ingredients to promote efficiency during meal preparation
- Maintain a clean work environment by washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of waste properly
- Maintaining and clean and well ordered pot wash
Requirements
- Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is highly desirable
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen safety standards
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work efficiently under pressure
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations and hygiene practices
- Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude toward supporting colleagues
- Basic culinary skills such as meal preparation, food handling, and serving experience preferred
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
- Ideally a full time York resident
Pay: £10.40-£12.71 per hour
Expected hours: 10.0 – 20.0 per week
