DevOps Architect

Job Description

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Architect to help define the automation, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, platform-engineering, and operational architecture for a next-generation building-management platform.

The existing application is a monolithic platform that is tightly coupled with AWS services. The objective of the engagement is to assess the current architecture and define a scalable and portable target architecture, expected to run primarily in an on-premises/private-cloud environment.

This role will focus on DevOps and platform architecture rather than application development or application modernization. The DevOps Architect will determine how the future platform should be provisioned, deployed, configured, secured, upgraded, monitored, and operated.

The role will work closely with a US-based Cloud Architect, Kubernetes Lead in India, application teams, infrastructure teams, and customer stakeholders.

Engagement Phases

Discovery & Architecture Assessment

  • Assess the current build, deployment, release, infrastructure, and operational processes.
  • Identify dependencies on AWS-native DevOps and infrastructure services.
  • Review CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, configuration management, monitoring, and operational processes.
  • Identify architectural gaps that affect scalability, portability, repeatability, and resilience.

Reference Architecture

  • Define the DevOps and platform-engineering reference architecture.
  • Develop CI/CD, GitOps, infrastructure-as-code, configuration-management, observability, and release-management patterns.
  • Develop representative automation and reference implementation patterns.
  • Validate architectural recommendations.

A subsequent implementation/build phase is expected after completion of the reference architecture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the DevOps and platform-engineering architecture workstream.
  • Assess the customer's existing CI/CD pipelines, automation, release management, and operational tooling.
  • Identify AWS-specific tooling and services that create platform dependencies.
  • Define a cloud-agnostic/on-premises DevOps architecture.
  • Define CI/CD architecture for application and platform components.
  • Establish infrastructure-as-code standards and reusable automation patterns.
  • Define Git repository, branching, artifact-management, and environment-promotion strategies.
  • Define GitOps approaches for Kubernetes platform and workload deployment.
  • Define configuration-management and secrets-management architecture.
  • Define container-image build, scanning, registry, promotion, and lifecycle-management patterns.
  • Design automated infrastructure and Kubernetes provisioning workflows.
  • Define environment-management approaches across development, test, staging, and production.
  • Define automated deployment, rollback, patching, and upgrade patterns.
  • Establish platform observability architecture covering:
  • Metrics
  • Logging
  • Alerting
  • Dashboards
  • Distributed tracing
  • Platform health monitoring
  • Define DevSecOps controls and integration points for security scanning, vulnerability management, secrets, certificates, and policy enforcement.
  • Define operational-readiness requirements, including backup, recovery, disaster recovery, monitoring, and supportability.
  • Recommend on-premises alternatives for AWS-native DevOps services where required.
  • Work with the Kubernetes Lead to ensure automation patterns align with the Kubernetes target architecture.
  • Work with the US Cloud Architect to integrate DevOps architecture into the overall target-state architecture.
  • Produce reference architectures, technical standards, workflow diagrams, tooling recommendations, and implementation patterns.
  • Support proof-of-concept or reference implementation activities.

Requirements

Required Experience

  • 8+ years of DevOps, platform engineering, cloud engineering, or infrastructure-automation experience.
  • 4+ years in a DevOps Architect, Platform Architect, or senior platform-engineering role.
  • Strong experience designing enterprise CI/CD platforms.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of Kubernetes and container-based deployment models.
  • Deep experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi, or equivalent.
  • Strong experience with CI/CD and GitOps technologies such as:
  • GitHub Actions
  • GitLab CI/CD
  • Azure DevOps
  • Jenkins
  • Argo CD
  • Flux
  • Strong understanding of container registries, artifact repositories, secrets management, and software-supply-chain security.
  • Experience designing DevOps architecture for on-premises, hybrid-cloud, or private-cloud environments.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability platforms.
  • Strong understanding of Linux, networking, certificates, identity, and security.
  • Experience with AWS DevOps and infrastructure services and the ability to map AWS-native capabilities to portable alternatives.
  • Experience developing reusable automation frameworks and enterprise engineering standards.
  • Strong architecture-documentation and stakeholder-communication skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with OpenShift, VMware, Nutanix, Rancher, or bare-metal Kubernetes environments.
  • Experience migrating from AWS-native DevOps tooling to cloud-neutral or on-premises platforms.
  • Experience with enterprise platform engineering and internal developer platforms.
  • Experience with SonarQube, HashiCorp Vault, Harbor, Nexus, Artifactory, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK/OpenSearch, or similar technologies.
  • Experience supporting industrial, IoT, building-management, or edge-computing platforms.
  • Relevant Kubernetes, DevOps, AWS, Red Hat, or HashiCorp certifications.

Frequently asked questions

Answers about finding your next role

What can I search for?

Search by job title or keyword, then browse remote, hybrid, and onsite openings in one list.

Where can I find remote jobs?

Browse remote openings on Remote Amigo. Search by job title or keyword, then choose Remote in the work format filter. Check each listing for location or country requirements.

How do I narrow the results?

Choose a country, work format, minimum annual salary, and experience level. You can change or clear the filters at any time.

What will I see on a job page?

Each listing shows the role, company, location, work format, salary when available, skills when provided, and a job description.

Do I need an account to browse jobs?

No. You can search and read the available listings without signing in.

Does this site submit job applications for me?

No. You can search and review listings here. The Apply button starts the job preference quiz; it does not submit an application to an employer.

Where do the jobs come from?

Listings are imported from public job feeds and job sites. Job details may change at the original source, so confirm the latest information before applying.

How recent are the listings?

Search results include listings with a publication date in the last 30 days. If a source provides no publication date, the import date is used; the actual posting may be older.

Can I search for remote jobs only?

Yes. Select Remote in the job type filter to show remote listings. You can switch to Hybrid or Onsite whenever you want.

What is the difference between remote, hybrid, and onsite?

Remote roles are intended to be done away from an office. Hybrid roles combine remote and office work. Onsite roles are based at a workplace. Always read the listing for its exact location requirements.

Can I filter jobs by country?

Yes. Choose a country in the search form to narrow the listings. A remote role may still have country restrictions, so check its description before applying.

Why do some jobs have no salary listed?

Some listings do not include pay information. We show a salary when it is available and leave it out when it is not provided.

Is the salary filter a monthly or annual amount?

The minimum salary field uses US dollars per year. It filters listings that have comparable salary information.

Can I change or clear my search filters?

Yes. Change the keyword, country, job type, salary, or level in the search form. You can clear individual fields and run a broader search again.
