About the role

The Senior Manager, Rights Management will lead the critical function of managing content rights administration for Crunchyroll across distribution channels. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Rights and Scheduling, within the Global Operations org, this role will lead the operating model for the function and ensure that commercial terms are translated accurately, consistently and auditably into rights records. 

The Senior Manager establishes the standards, controls and workflows that protect Crunchyroll from incorrect rights exploitation and collaborates with Business Affairs, Content Acquisition, Deal Management and technology teams to set up the rights pipeline for success.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee content rights entry: oversee entry of content details from contracts (titles, territories, languages, windows, media, restrictions) into Rightsline, the system of record that carries rights to distribution channels (SVOD, digital manga, theatrical, home video).Own the content-rights operating model: set clear boundaries and handoffs with upstream teams Business Affairs and Content Acquisition, partner team Deal Management who is responsible for financial data entry, and downstream teams Scheduling and Avails. 

  • Establish validation rules, exception management and change management: set up clear processes, reports and systematic checks to audit entry of rights, communicate rights changes, and handle exceptional cases for complex deals or system limitations.
  • Collaborate with technology teams to bolster system support: continuously improve Rightsline to increase efficiency, reduce risk, and set up audit trails.
  • Manage the Rights Management team: lead a Manager and team that will be globally distributed who will enter contract details into Rightsline; set up time-zone coverage, accountability checks, and workflows.

About You

    • 8+ years experience leading teams in rights/contract management in media & entertainment 
    • Experienced leader who can drive forward strategic initiatives and set goals for the team
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills to influence cross-functionally 
    • Ability to drive clarity from ambiguity and turn concepts into operational plans
    • Well versed in understanding contract language and translating terms 
    • Experience with Rightsline and understanding data flows both upstream and downstream and subsequent business impacts

    Preferred:

    • Experience in streaming industry
    • Experience and familiarity of anime content and anime industry

Why do some jobs have no salary listed?

Some listings do not include pay information. We show a salary when it is available and leave it out when it is not provided.

Is the salary filter a monthly or annual amount?

The minimum salary field uses US dollars per year. It filters listings that have comparable salary information.

Can I change or clear my search filters?

Yes. Change the keyword, country, job type, salary, or level in the search form. You can clear individual fields and run a broader search again.
