Summary Description
Under the direction of the middle school principal, plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for adolescent students. Working with interdisciplinary teams, provides a school culture conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of adolescents to ensure success for every student. Supervises middle school students in a variety of school-related settings. Communicates and collaborates with middle school students, staff, parents, and community. Develops, selects, and differentiates instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all middle school students. Maintains appropriate records, follows required procedures and practices, and uses data analysis to monitor student achievement. Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities. Physical Demands: As required by the duties and responsibilities of the job. Special Requirements: Required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.

This position does not include benefits. Forest Oak Middle School is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Teacher for Digital Art and Photography. Responsibilities include planning and delivering lessons aligned to the curriculum, teaching digital art techniques and photography fundamentals, managing classroom technology and equipment, assessing student learning, maintaining a positive classroom environment, and supporting student growth through constructive feedback. The substitute will guide students in the use of design software, digital cameras, and multimedia tools while fostering creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Candidates should demonstrate strong classroom management skills, flexibility, effective communication, and the ability to build positive relationships with middle school students. Experience in art, photography, or digital media is preferred.

Ability to use a variety of instructional and behavioral management strategies appropriate to the needs of middle school adolescents, and techniques integrating reading, writing, math, and technology throughout the content areas. Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school-based staff, students, parents, and community demonstrating organizational agility. Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills. Commitment to young adolescents serving as an advocate, a role model, and a supporter of diversity (e.g., race, ethnicity, gender, developmental differences, learning styles, and exceptionalities). Knowledge and application of the six performance standards that have been established for the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Teacher Professional Growth System (TPGS), and the Supporting Services (SEIU) Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
Education Training Experience
Bachelor^s degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university with knowledge of adolescent learner.Certificate License:Meets Maryland state certification requirements in appropriate field of education.
